This lecture was slightly different to normal lectures as Gabrielle wasn't here to present her artwork, but to promote her local business. It is called OUTPUT gallery, and it works "exclusively with creatives from or based in Merseyside. Through free exhibitions and events, we hope to encourage the development, mobility and strength of our local art scene". It all started when her and her friend created a website named "The white pube". This was to talk about art in a less formal manner. From writing about Liverpool’s problems she believed making a gallery would solve it. She did a lot of research into the problems of art galleries. "Do you want to be paid for exhibiting?" After countless emails and convincing the council eventually ended up funding her gallery to help artists that go unrecognised. That was the whole point, to try help artists who work extremely hard and unfortunately don't get the recognition they deserve. A good idea she has is to get a big name in the art industry to come to boost other artists, by doing this the attendance of the programme increased. Gabrielle seems extremely passionate about what she does and you can tell the effort she’s put in to get this gallery running. She has definitely used clever tactics by using a name and making badges and leaflets to hand out. She has even created a loyalty card, which people can fill up if they attend exhibitions, to eventually win a small prize. She says that “Outputs where all the weirdos go” which is true, all artists are quirky in their own crazy ways. She eventually wants to make it a franchise if things keep going as smoothly as they are now.

Overall her aim was to help people, which I think is a lovely idea and she was a lovely person who sold the gallery to me, I will one hundred percent go visit a future exhibition and support the local business and local artists, as I am one too!
